We’d like you to meet the founding members of our ambassador and advisory program. This is a special group of educators, administrators and education innovators. This amazing group is helping students find paths to success by evangelizing project-based learning portfolios and an ecosystem around it.

David Ahlborn

Director of Curriculum and Instruction

I am committed to helping students for whom traditional school may be a poor fit to discover their passions and amplify their voices. Students with learning differences like dyslexia often have significant aptitudes in 21st century skill- and mindsets that are undervalued in our educational programs: empathic perspective-taking, entrepreneurial instincts, creative problem solving strategies, and unique visual-spatial awareness.

Madelin Braun

Math and Science Co - Teacher

In my teaching, I focus on educating by integrating STEAM, SEL, and joy of learning through each lesson. Additionally, with a priority of creating a space where my students feel safe, seen, heard, and ability for self expression.

My focus as an educational leader is strategic Initiatives , well-being, Social Emotional Learning, mindfulness in education, restorative practices, relationship centered learning, and being a hope dealer.

Tasia Chatman

Curriculum Director

Tasia is an innovative Universal Design Learning expert leading a digital content design team through the build, launch, and iteration of professional learning content for adult learners. She coaches designers through curriculum design sprints, offers feedback, and makes recommendations grounded in data and needs of stakeholders. Tasia presents and champions learning and design concepts to stakeholders.

Peter Hostrawser

Business Education Teacher

Known as the Unlearning Coach, Peter is a business educator in the Chicago area with over 20 years’ experience building high school business programs. He is an entrepreneur and change agent for traditional educational systems as well as a business coach. Peter is the host of the Disrupt Education Podcast where creative and non-traditional learners share their stories and thoughts on how to change education. He currently teaches business at Amos Alonzo Stagg High School in Palos Hills, Illinois, USA. His value is to help others find and show their value.

Garreth Heidt

Lead Learner and Educator

Garreth Heidt has taught middle and high school students via a unique instructional approach to creativity and design thinking for the better part of 30 years. His curricula seek to develop skills in critical viewing, question formation, civil discussion, problem finding, and problem solving. The learning process is driven by design-minded means to a unique educational end for his students, and is focused around two simple questions: “Why are things the way they are? How can we make them better?”
He currently teaches a 10th grade Gifted Class in English and the Humanities, and is the Lead Learner and co-designer of his high school’s innovation and social entrepreneurship space, NOVA Lab.

Shirin Mathew

I work in and focus on the K-12 space and pathways to college and career development. My interests are in experiential learning, project-based learning, and personalized learning – all through an equity and access lens. I am passionate about helping students realize their unique strengths and offerings to the world and developing effective educational practices to meet these needs.

I believe that with the right support, every student can succeed. My focus is on creating a support system that empowers students to take risks and be reflective in their learning experiences. I hope to provide all students with excellent education and exposure to opportunities that prepares them to be difference makers in their communities and that expands their belief of who they are and where they can go.

Ladan Ziaee

Instructional Coach & Curriculum Writer

Ladan is an experienced educator with a heavy focus on literacy in the humanities, by building cross disciplinary lessons using cross curricular language. She has been a leader in the transformation of instruction in schools by using data based lesson plans to build student skills in the common core.
Ladan’s efficacy as an educator has been through building core relationships that focus on students’ emotional needs and adolescent development, while also connecting with families to build a cohesive home and school support system.
In her spare time Ladan enjoys closely following government and politics, while also exploring obscure historical topics and events.
